Where Our Dogs Come From

In association with Cherokee Humane Society and through a network of amazing volunteers, we rescue dogs (adults and puppies) from county animal control facilities throughout the state of Georgia.

Once the animals are in our care, we provide veterinary care, spay and neuter procedures, vaccinations, and loving foster homes.

It's a tremendous undertaking and we can't do it alone. Currently, thousands of dogs are euthanized each year throughout the state of Georgia because of neglect, abandonment, and overpopulation.

Sherry’s CHS Adoptions continues to provide support and care for animals in need. Despite her efforts to retire, Sherry's dedication to the cause remains unwavering. Dottie, a mother dog found pregnant at Carter’s Lake along with one of her puppies, was taken into the rescue. She gave birth to 15 puppies, unfortunately losing 2, but finding loving homes for the rest. Among the success stories are Pee Wee, a cat who suffered a leg injury from a fall off a roof and required amputation, but eventually found a caring home. Ginger and Uno also stand as testaments to the organization's work, with Ginger giving birth to Uno outdoors in extreme temperatures.

In addition to individual cases, Sherry's team extended their help to community cats from Kathy in Kennesaw and Hope in Cartersville, successfully placing approximately 60 cats into loving homes. Through these efforts, Sherry and her team at CHS Adoptions continue to make a positive impact on the lives of animals in their community.

As of this year, Sherry is transitioning into retirement and has significantly reduced operations. Recent rescue efforts have focused on aiding puppies discovered in Middle Georgia. These pups were found in distressing conditions, struggling to survive in the woods near dumpsters, exposed to the harsh elements.

Some of these puppies were found alone, while others were accompanied by their mother, who was bravely attempting to care for her young in the challenging environment. Through these rescue missions, Sherry's CHS Adoptions continues to provide assistance to animals in need, ensuring they receive the care and support necessary for a brighter future.

We recently received a variety of heartwarming cases in which we were able to provide assistance to animals in need. One such instance involved a litter of puppies seeking refuge from the Louisiana flood, showcasing the resilience of these furry companions in the face of adversity.

Additionally, our team rescued a pregnant stray dog found in the depths of the woods, ensuring her safety and well-being as she prepared to welcome her litter of puppies into the world. Another touching rescue mission involved extracting a mother and her babies from a high-risk kill shelter, offering them a fresh start and a chance at a brighter future.

In yet another act of compassion, we came to the aid of a group of puppies abandoned on a farm, providing them with the care and attention they deserved after being left to fend for themselves. These heartening stories serve as a reminder of the unwavering dedication of our team at Sherry's CHS Adoptions to the welfare of our beloved animal companions.

We encountered a series of heart-wrenching situations that tested our resolve and compassion. The discovery of a litter of puppies in a ditch, where half of them were fighting for their lives, prompted an immediate response to rescue and provide them with the care they urgently needed. Additionally, we welcomed a group of sick puppies from a hoarding situation, a pregnant dog from a trailer park, and a litter of puppies found in a den deep within the woods.

Despite the challenging circumstances, witnessing the resilience of these animals and the instinctive care of a feral mother dog in creating a den for her offspring was a truly awe-inspiring moment. While we were unable to capture the elusive mother, the opportunity to save and nurture these vulnerable animals remains a deeply rewarding experience that drives our commitment to animal welfare each day.

Additionally, we welcomed a pregnant dog rescued from the streets into our care. At our facility, we are dedicated to providing love, care, and a second chance at a happy life for animals in need.
